Courses and Events
We run a couple of courses that will help you to grow in your faith and provide valuable input into your life as well as putting on events with the aim of having fun together and blessing those in our local community.
The Alpha Course
What is Alpha?
Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each session looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. Alpha is run all around the globe, and everyone is welcome. It runs in cafés, churches, universities, homes – you name it. No two Alphas look the same, but generally they have three key things in common: food, a presentation and good conversation.
Here at ABC we run an Alpha course on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:00pm with a delicious meal. We then watch a short presentation that deals with an aspect of faith and life, before having a bit of a chat about the issues raised. This is a place to ask questions, put points of view across, and learn from each other. We don't all have to believe the same things or even agree. We just want to explore the big questions of life together. Oh, and the course including the meal is completely free! There's no charge for attending.
Our next course starts on Tuesday 11th September at 7:00pm. If you're interested in coming, or have any questions about Alpha please contact us by email, so that we can make sure we have enough food to go round.
The CAP Money Course
What is the CAP Money Course?
The CAP Money Course is a revolutionary money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that really works. This course will help anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can budget, save and prevent debt.
The CAP Money Course is a 3 Session DVD based course that will teach you:
1. How to build a budget. This is the cornerstone of managing your money well. The session includes advice on how to increase your income and how to cut costs.
2. The CAP Money system. This system will help to simplify your money and make it understandable. It operates using three accounts for your money: a regular payments account, a cash account and a savings account.
3. To use cash instead of cards. Living on cash and getting away from cards means you know exactly where you are and helps you to spend less money.
Doing the CAP Money Course means you will be able to budget, save and spend on the things you want.
After watching the DVDs, trained CAP Money Coaches will be available to help you build your budget and answer any questions you may have. A unique benefit of the CAP Money Course is that, if you discover that you can’t balance your budget and pay off any debts, you will be able to access CAP Money Plus. This is an Internet based debt counselling service from Christians Against Poverty.
Here at ABC we aim to run the course twice a year, usually in the Spring and Autumn. If you'd like details and information for the next course please contact us.
